Hike up Rhino.

In 2021 a fundraiser for Clouds of Hope was the climbing of Rhino Peak in celebration of Ian Davies’, the current Chairman, 80th birthday. Board members and several brave children joined in.  The hike was deemed a great success, and funds were raised through sponsorship for the Home.

United We Sing!

In 2022, Monique, the choir director of the Clouds of Hope choir, Underberg, South Africa, decided to work on a choir exchange programme with her singers. On the other side of the globe, 14 German students found themselves under music teacher Brigitta Ritter. It was February 2023, and we weren’t quite sure what we had signed up for yet. But one thing connected us already, no matter the distance: our love for music, and, especially, for making music with other people.

At our first meeting, most of the people we met at Clouds of Hope were quite shy at first, but they quickly warmed up to us. We were soon surrounded by singing and laughter. During choir practice we still largely sat apart, only occasionally filling the giddy atmosphere with tentative smiles and shy waves. We were quite literally welcomed with open arms as we, to our surprise and delight, were hugged as a goodbye when we left that first night.
